Making the Connection was designed as a tool for educators who want to teach about sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), not just HIV/AIDS. The educational activities included in this guide/lesson plan provide basic facts about the most common STDs, explore myths about STDs, and examine the physical and emotional consequences of STDs.

Who We Are
The Humboldt Community NETwork (the NET) is a network of
people and organizations committed to improving the health and
well-being of children, youth and families in Humboldt County.
NET meetings provide an opportunity to network with others who
work with, or care about, children, youth and family issues.
Most often, NET meetings have a presentation about a program
that serves children, youth and families, followed by an open
"roundtable" with announcements and information exchange. The
format is friendly and supportive. NET meetings offer an
opportunity for you to have a conversation with community
experts willing to share their knowledge and skills with others
in an informal setting.
There is no fee or cost for participating in the NET. Meetings
are open to everyone. Regular monthly meetings are held on the
first Thursday of February, March, April, May, June, August,
September, October, November and December, from 1:00-3:00 P.M.
at the Community Wellness Center, 908 Seventh St., Eureka. Call or visit the NET's website for more
information on dates, times, and locations.
What We Do
Currently, our funding supports the following:
- NET meetings, as described
above
- A website,
www.humnet.net, where
you will find the monthly NET meeting agendas,
minutes from prior meetings, announcement/flyers for
upcoming community and
agency events, and links to other sites with important
information.
- Small grants available through Humboldt Community Switchboard.
How You Can Join Us
People who participate regularly in NET meetings or other
NET activities are considered NET Partners. If you sign up

a monthly notice with the next month's meeting agenda, a

community and agency events, and a link to the NET's
